Stepping Into The Custom Bar Mirror Fantasy
I made my way down the hallway, passing framed portrays of pals and family. Getting to the lower level bar I stared at myself briefly in the different bar wall mirrors . I saw the expression "The fun never ends" etched into the bottom of the mirror. Is that true? How long can the amusement last? The party last night was wonderful. My pals had come to share some great food and just enough wine to keep us laughing the entire night.
Checking out the image of my weary eyes reflected in the personalized bar mirror , I changed my mind about having a gin and tonic after all. Weary, I settled onto the chair and powered on the television. I found something relaxing to watch, hoping it would send me quietly off to dreamland. The next thing I think of Mike Holmes from Holmes on Homes is screaming at me. In my dream, I noticed myself in my own home. Nothing other than shoddy workmanship all over the place. He began to direct me around my own home, pointing out the things he liked and what needed to be changed. He started with the roof above my living area. In an instant, he was pulling down pieces of the roofing, exposing wood and bare pipes. I panicked a little as he destroyed the roof covering, but he was calm about it. We were standing before my home bar. "This is beautiful," he expressed, running his hands over the classic bar. "Give me a whisky," he tells to Holmes. I poured two good measures of whiskey over ice and gave him one of the glasses.
"Ok, I' ll make you a pina colada." As Holmes commences whipping up the pina colada Genevieve Gorder from HGTV's "Dear Genevieve" program walks out of the bathroom with a paint roller in one hand, a roll of blue painter's tape in the other and a fag hanging out of her mouth. Pointing to the walls, he began to list the colors coming to mind. Genevieve commences peeling back the blue tape and placing it arbitrarily on the walls. We finished the first wall in short time and got on to the others, now painting them dazzling yellow. When our painting was over, we went back to the bar for a second drink. "Tequila," she shouts at Holmes, "and why do you two insist on sporting tank tops all the time?"
Suddenly, I am very aware that I am in the attendance of an incredible interior designer, and that my home is not ready for his critical eye. Not having this season's hottest paint colors on my walls was the least of my fears. Even though I was dreaming, I felt abashed by my home's old-fashioned décor. Genevieve tosses back her tequila. He stopped in front of the bar mirror and expressed, "This is outstanding." "Did you design the etched mirror?" I smiled, looking at my delight reflected in the bar mirror. "A personalized touch like this custom-build bar mirror actually makes this a personal space." Holmes grunts, snags a chainsaw and cuts my bar in half. He didn't seem disturbed about what he was conducting at all. I reached up and touched my face, finding I was sporting a pair of safety goggles.
Then, a voice emerged out of the blue, like a personal voiceover. It announced, "Will the Hudsons choose the home with the swimming pool, the fixer upper, or the house with half a bar and some beautiful customized bar mirrors?"
I feel a minor shaking feeling and discover my wife is standing over me, shaking me by the shoulder. She flipped the television off. "I would like to watch which house the Johnsons picked," I told her sleepily. She saw me like I was crazy. "Oh, House Hunters…they picked the third house."
As I stroll back up the stairway I smile getting it was the sawed off bar and customized bar mirrors that they couldn't resist.
